What Not to Eat/Drink Before Bed Time 1. CAFFEINE Caffeine is a natural chemical that inactivates the central nervous system which means it stimulate nerves and thought precess. If you take caffeinated drinks and food such as coffee, tea, kolanuts, chocolate and many soft drinks too close to bed time, the chances are it will wake. It is recommended that highly sensitive people should stop drinking caffeine at least eight hours before bed time. 2. ALCOHOL Although many people use alcohol to help them relax before bed, the effects can wear off, so they wake up in the middle of the night. Over time alcohol-induced sleep becomes less restful, so sleepless will become a constant fact of life. 3. LARGE MEALS Eating a huge dinner, or even a large mean before-bed time snack, may make you feel drowsy, but the sleep won't necessarily last. When you lie done and try to sleep your digestion will slow down, make you feel uncomfortable, and possibly keep you awake. I recommend eating a dinner that has no more than 600 calories (optimally at least three hours before bed time). 4. LIQUIDS Stop liquid 90 minutes before bed time. The single best piece of advice I can give to those of you who wake up in the middle of the night ti visit bathroom is not to drink water or fluids within 90 minutes of bedtime. It take that long for your body to process liquid of any type. If you must drink to take a medication, take it earlier in the evening if possible.
